How It Works

TraceLess Links monitors Google search results in the browser and analyzes the links associated with each result.

1. Find search results
   The extension identifies search results and their associated links on the Google search page.
2. Inspect the link
   The link is checked to determine whether it contains a direct HTTP or HTTPS destination or a Google redirect structure.
3. Resolve the destination
   When a Google redirect is detected, the extension determines the destination URL and validates it as a web address.
4. Process the link
   The selected link mode determines whether the destination replaces the existing link or is added as a separate direct link.
5. Monitor changes
   When Google updates its search results, new or changed links can be processed again.

Click Tracking

TraceLess Links provides a separate protection option for selected click-tracking and measurement mechanisms used on Google search pages.

When Cut click tracking is enabled, the extension controls selected ping attributes and specific Google tracking, measurement, and logging requests through browser-level rules.

The click-tracking setting can be configured independently from the link-processing mode.

URL Cleaning

TraceLess Links includes URL-processing infrastructure for analyzing web addresses and identifying common tracking parameters.

The tracking parameter catalog includes patterns used by services such as UTM, Google Ads and Analytics, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Yandex, Mailchimp, HubSpot, Adobe, Matomo, and other analytics and marketing platforms.

Privacy

TraceLess Links performs link analysis and cleaning inside the browser.

Browser credentials are omitted from network requests used during redirect destination resolution.

The extension does not require a user account or a separate TraceLess Links account for basic use. User settings are stored in the browser's local storage.
